Posted January 09, 2021 10:05:47 The new content from Sim expansions for Xbox and PlayStation 4 will be available to download from EA’s online store, EA senior vice president of online games Jason Rubin said during an earnings call today.
Rubin did not say when these new packs will be released.
Rubin said the new Sim expansions will add new content to the existing content on Xbox and will be priced at $4.99 per month.
The new Sim expansion pack for PlayStation 4 is currently available to buy for $19.99.
Rubin also said that the expansion packs for PC will be “limited” in scope, and will include the full content of each expansion pack, as well as the “last-gen” expansion packs.
Rubin was unable to give any dates for when the expansion pack content for PC would be available, or if any PC versions of the expansions would be coming to those platforms.
Rubin has been a vocal critic of EA’s console strategy, saying he wants the company to shift to the more mainstream PC and consoles.
Rubin previously worked at EA Sports as the vice president for business development, and was part of the team that developed the Madden NFL series.
Rubin told analysts in a call today that the company is now focused on “developing and expanding” the Sim games, which were launched with the launch of Madden NFL 20 in 2012.
Rubin added that he expects EA’s strategy to continue to evolve as the company sees the needs of the gaming market change, as more people start playing games.
